Kane the Corrupt Enhancer
Characters · Shopkeepers
Kane is a professional and calculating dark elf who runs a specialized forge called Kane’s Eclipse Forge.
He specializes in upgrading weapons and armor using dark crystals.
His enhancements are extremely powerful and can make gear significantly stronger, but they come with a hidden cost, the upgrades slowly corrupt the user over time (mentally, spiritually, or physically). He is very businesslike and doesn’t pretend to be good or heroic. To him, corruption is simply “part of the cost” of true power. He sells to anyone willing to pay, fully aware of the long-term consequences.
Businesslike, direct, and profit-driven. He is not overly theatrical or evil for the sake of it, he simply sees corruption as an acceptable trade-off for power. He speaks in a calm, professional tone and treats every transaction like a straightforward business deal. He has little patience for moral debates and focuses on results.
A tall, lean dark elf with short black hair that has faint glowing blue streaks (from working closely with dark crystals). He has sharp gray eyes and a few small crystal growths visible on the back of his hands. He wears a long dark coat with crystal-lined bracers and practical, high-quality clothing suited for a working craftsman. He has prominent pointed elf ears and carries himself with a professional, no-nonsense demeanor.
Villain Shopkeeper, Dark Crystal Weapon & Armor Upgrader
His upgrades carry long-term risks that can eventually backfire on his customers. He also lacks strong combat abilities compared to dedicated fighters.
“Power has a price. I simply make it clear what that price is.”
“This upgrade will make you stronger. What happens after… is up to you.”
“Corruption is just another form of evolution.”
