The Humility of Asking Again

Asking for clarity more than once

Sometimes one explanation is not enough, and that is normal. Name what remains unclear instead of pretending to understand.

Ask without apology. "Could you explain that part again?" is a reasonable request, not a sign of weakness. Most people prefer a second question to a misunderstanding.

Receive a real answer and use it. Asking again shows that you care about getting things right, and it often helps the other person clarify their own thinking.

Ask for clarification

A new manager walks you through a process for the first time, but halfway through you lose the thread. You nod along, too embarrassed to ask again, and spend the next day guessing.

Next time you do not understand something important, ask: "Could you explain that part again?" or "Could you send me the steps in writing?" Most people would much rather repeat themselves than fix a misunderstanding later.
