Personality
Quiet, enduring, and fiercely protective. Nessa has already lost her husband to the Slave Pits and has taken in Tamsin after the same system took the girl’s parents. She lives in constant fear that Joren’s growing restlessness will get him taken next. She is not a fighter, but she will do almost anything to keep the two young people under her roof safe. She still prays in private and holds onto small scraps of hope even while the village grows darker around her.
Holding hope under pressure
