Companion / Mount, Zephyra’s Stormhowl Wolf (Wind Spirit Beast)
A proud, ancient wind spirit that took the form of a massive wolf-like creature after being bound to Zephyra during the early days of the Veil.
It once protected the high peaks but was twisted by her doubt storms into a loyal but turbulent guardian.
Deep down it longs for calm skies again, hinting at possible redemption alongside Zephyra later in the series. Vortrax represents the wild, untamed emotions that can be both protective and destructive when left unchecked. Its story is one of loyalty, inner conflict, and the potential for peace when its master finds balance.
Large, majestic wolf-like beast with swirling storm-cloud fur in shades of deep gray, silver, and electric blue. Its eyes glow bright white-blue, and crackling wind energy constantly swirls around its body like living auroras. Long, feathery wind-manipulating tendrils flow from its shoulders and tail like storm banners. When it roars, visible wind gusts and glowing energy particles burst outward. It has a powerful, athletic build that looks fast and graceful in the air. It radiates both majestic beauty and dangerous, turbulent power.
Zephyra’s loyal mount and battle partner at Stormpeak Summit. It creates powerful wind gusts and storm shields to protect her while she stirs doubt storms from above. The heroes must use teamwork (Liora’s aura lift + Torin’s melee) to break its defenses and force Zephyra to fight on the ground. Vortrax serves as a major mid-game boss encounter that teaches players the importance of teamwork and grounding chaotic energy.
Stormhowl
Releases powerful wind blasts and swirling vortex shields that knock players back or create temporary wind platforms (can be used creatively in the fight). Represents chaotic doubt and turbulent emotions. Its abilities make the battlefield dynamic and require players to adapt quickly.
When hit with strong, steady courage energy (from Torin), its wind shields weaken and it becomes vulnerable to grounded melee attacks. It also calms slightly when Zephyra shows any hesitation (foreshadowing her slow redemption). Its power is tied to chaos and doubt, when faced with calm, grounded courage, it begins to lose control.
“Turbulent storms eventually calm when faced with steady courage.”Infused Lights
