Five minutes with the sky
Set a timer for five minutes and find a place to watch the sky, outdoors or through a window. For the first minute, just watch without naming anything. Notice movement, color, light, and how quickly or slowly the clouds change.
Then let yourself play. Name shapes you see, the way you might have as a child. Notice how a shape dissolves into another. This playful attention can loosen mental tension and bring a sense of wonder back into an ordinary day.
Cloud watching is accessible to almost everyone and costs nothing. It is a reminder that change is constant and often beautiful. On cloudy days, overcast skies have their own subtle layers to notice.

Let the sky be enough
Lie back or sit by a window. Watch shapes change. Resist the urge to turn every cloud into a sign. Presence can be literal.
When meaning arrives anyway
If a metaphor comes, write it down and return to looking. Discernment loves a little emptiness.
A small practice
- Set five minutes.
- Watch without naming for one minute.
- Then name shapes playfully.
- Close with gratitude for air.
