Letting questions work on you
Some questions linger long after you hear them: What would you do if you were not afraid? What are you pretending not to know? Good questions can open new ways of seeing.
Instead of rushing to answer, carry the question for a while. Write it down, revisit it on walks, and notice how your thoughts about it evolve over days or weeks.
Let the question influence small choices. Being changed by a good question is often gradual, a series of small shifts that add up to a new direction.
Carry one question for a week
Sometimes a question stays with you long after you hear it, perhaps "What would you do if you knew you could not fail?" or "What are you pretending not to know?" Yet most questions are answered quickly and forgotten.
Choose one meaningful question and write it on a card or in your phone. Read it each morning for a week. Do not force an answer. Notice what thoughts, memories, or ideas arise in response during your day.
At the end of the week, write down what surfaced. Did the question shift any choices or perspectives? Good questions often work slowly, changing us through gradual reflection rather than instant answers.
