Infused Lights teaching diagram: Lightworker Rest Day
An original Infused Lights teaching diagram.

Sleep is one of the most spiritual things you do each day, even though it looks like doing nothing. While you rest, your body repairs, your emotions settle, and your mind sorts the day into memory. Protecting sleep is not laziness or indulgence. It is how you keep your light steady enough to share.

This practice treats the hours before bed as sacred ground: a time to slow down, set things down, and let the dark do its quiet work.

Dim the last hour

Your body reads light as a signal. Bright screens and overhead lights tell it the day is still going. In the last hour before bed, lower the lights, choose lamps over ceiling fixtures, and let screens rest earlier than feels normal. Think of it as a sunset you create on purpose.

Keep the hour simple: a shower, stretching, a warm drink without caffeine, a few pages of something gentle. The goal is not to fill the time perfectly. It is to stop adding stimulation.

Release the day kindly

Many sleepless nights begin with a mind still holding the day. Before you lie down, give your thoughts somewhere to go. Write a short list of what is unfinished and one next step for each. Then close the notebook. Your worries are recorded; you do not have to rehearse them in the dark.

If emotions are close to the surface, place a hand on your chest and breathe slowly. You can say, "I will care for this tomorrow. Tonight I rest." Releasing is not ignoring. It is choosing the right time.

Guard the dark

Make your sleep space as calm as you can: cooler, quieter, and darker. Charge your phone away from the bed. Keep work out of the bedroom when possible. Treat the room as a place your nervous system can trust.

If sleep does not come, do not fight it. Get up for a few minutes, keep the lights low, and do something quiet until you feel drowsy. Rest is still rest even when sleep is slow. If sleep trouble lasts or affects your health, reach out to a doctor or qualified sleep specialist.

  1. Pick a "lights low" time one hour before bed and set a gentle reminder.
  2. Write tomorrow's unfinished list and one next step for each item, then close the notebook.
  3. Move your phone charger out of reach of the bed.
  4. Lie down with one hand on your heart and lengthen three exhales.
  5. Notice how you feel the next morning and adjust one thing at a time.

Sleep is sacred work. Guard it the way you would guard a candle flame.
