Good enough as a practice
Good enough means meeting the real need without excessive polishing. It is a practical approach that frees energy for rest, relationships, and meaningful work.
Identify areas where perfectionism drains you, such as household tasks, emails, or minor projects, and experiment with good enough standards there.
Making room for good enough reduces stress and often increases productivity. It also leaves space for life to feel more spacious and enjoyable.
A good enough experiment
Perhaps you rewrite simple emails three times, clean the house completely before guests arrive, or spend an hour choosing a birthday card. Each choice seems small, but together they consume time and energy you might want elsewhere.
Pick three tasks this week and deliberately do them at a good enough level: one draft for routine emails, a quick tidy instead of a deep clean, the first suitable card. Notice the urge to keep polishing and let it pass.
At the end of the week, ask whether anyone noticed a difference and what you did with the time you saved. Good enough often turns out to be exactly enough.
