Plans and reality
Plans are helpful maps, but real life often brings detours: illness, traffic, unexpected tasks, or changing priorities. When plans meet reality, flexibility becomes essential.
Review your plan when circumstances change. Ask what still matters most and adjust timelines or methods accordingly.
Treat changes as normal rather than as failures. Plans that adapt to reality are more likely to lead to success than rigid plans that break under pressure.
Plan with an if then
You plan to go for a run every morning, but on the third day it rains, and the plan quietly collapses. Real life always brings weather, illness, and surprises, and plans without alternatives tend to break.
For one plan you care about, add two "if then" alternatives. "If it rains, then I will do a fifteen minute workout indoors." "If I am too tired, then I will walk around the block." Write them down next to the plan.
Use the alternatives when needed and notice how much easier it is to stay on track. Plans with built in options are more resilient and kinder to the realities of daily life.
