Kyle’s fascination with sound began early. At five years old he was performing solo piano recitals in a tuxedo at the Bel Air Hotel, and that early start sparked a lifelong love of sound and light. As a teenager on the North Shore of Oahu he surfed, fell in love with photography and became the youngest photo assistant to surf photographer Art Brewer, before shooting for SURFER Magazine. His fashion photography career later took him through Milan, Paris, New York and Los Angeles, with work in Italian Vogue, GQ and InStyle.

Through it all, sound kept inspiring him, and at the young, wise age of 60 he took up sound bowls.

“Sound vibrations have shown me that all life vibrates as one.”

Kyle’s 68 foot round teepee sits in Little Morongo Heights, with a sweeping view of Morongo Valley and the peaks of Mt San Gorgonio and Mt San Jacinto, about 30 minutes from Palm Springs and minutes from Old Town Yucca Valley. Each session begins with a smudging of sage and palo santo, then a cup of cacao or a stint of breathwork around a wood burning fire, before you set your intentions and step inside the teepee for the sound bath.

The instruments are a whole orchestra: The Grand Uberdu mega bass didgeridoo, crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, ocean and thunder drums, chimes, tuning forks, chakapa, rain sticks, bells, a crystal triangle, a shaman drum and a Native American flute.

Kyle’s signature experience in Pioneertown lasts two and a half to three hours. It includes a sage and palo santo smudging, an intention setting ceremony, hot cacao or heart chakra breathwork around a wood burning fire, and a nature walk to the boulder cave, where the sound bath invites you to slow down, reset and feel rejuvenated and light minded.

Ways to experience a sound bath with Kyle
