Briar
Keeper of Root & Relic · Woodland Marketplace
About Briar
Briar is the practical heart of the Woodland Marketplace. While Rhaelys restores joy and Calder restores light, Briar makes sure no one walks into the Dark Hollow unprepared. She runs Root & Relic, the shop that sells what people actually need: rope, maps, tools, light rations, repair kits, and the occasional useful relic that finds its way in from the forest trails.
She has a dry sense of humor and sharp eyes that notice when someone is low on supplies or about to make a stupid decision. She rarely lectures. Instead she simply slides the right item across the counter and raises an eyebrow.
She has a soft spot for the younger scouts and travelers, even if she pretends otherwise.
Theme
Being ready is its own kind of courage.
Her story teaches that not every act of resistance looks like a battle. Sometimes it looks like making sure the people you care about have what they need before they walk into the dark.
Preparation is a kindness
Briar runs Root and Relic in the Woodland Marketplace, selling what people actually need before the Dark Hollow: rope, maps, tools, rations, and repair kits. She rarely lectures. She simply slides the right item across the counter. Her approach is a wonderful model for helping others. Advice often bounces off, but quietly offering the right resource at the right moment can change everything. Preparation is a form of care, whether that means packing a snack for a child or saving a little for a hard month. What would Briar slide across your counter today?
