Measuring success over seasons
Success is often measured in quick wins: promotions, numbers, milestones. A slower definition looks at how you are living over months and years, not only what you achieve this week.
Consider questions like: Am I growing kinder? Are my relationships deeper? Is my work meaningful? Do I have time for rest? These measures change slowly and matter deeply.
Celebrate slow progress. A slower definition of success can reduce pressure, increase satisfaction, and help you build a life that feels good from the inside.
Try a yearly success review
Weekly to do lists measure success in tasks completed. But some of the most important kinds of success, kinder relationships, steadier health habits, a calmer mind, only become visible over longer periods.
Write down three questions about the past year: How have my relationships grown? What have I learned? What do I feel proud of that no one else may have noticed? Answer them honestly and in detail.
Read your answers and notice what success looks like on a slower timeline. This perspective can ease the pressure of daily productivity and help you value the gradual growth that makes a life meaningful.
