Crop circles are large, often breathtakingly complex patterns that appear in fields of wheat, barley and other crops, most famously in southern England near ancient sacred sites like Stonehenge and Avebury. Some are simple rings. Others are vast mathematical designs with hundreds of circles, fractals and sacred geometry. Since the late 1970s they have drawn scientists, skeptics, artists and seekers. Many lightworkers see them as messages written in the language of sacred geometry, carrying light codes that speak to the soul, regardless of who or what makes them.

Whether you see them as human art, a mystery or a cosmic message, crop circles invite one thing: wonder.

A brief history

  • Stories of mysterious circles in fields go back centuries, including a 1678 English pamphlet about the "Mowing-Devil."
  • Modern crop circles began appearing in England in the 1970s and became famous in the 1980s.
  • In 1991, two men, Doug Bower and Dave Chorley, announced they had been making circles since 1976 using planks, rope and a wire sighting device.
  • Since then, teams of artists have openly created stunning formations, and many people believe all crop circles are human-made.
  • Others, including some researchers in the field, point to features they find hard to explain in certain formations and believe something more mysterious is involved.

The honest truth is that many crop circles are known to be human-made, and the debate about the rest continues. For lightworkers, the meaning does not depend on that answer.

The sacred geometry in the fields

Famous formations have included:

  • The Julia Set (1996), near Stonehenge, a spiral of 151 circles resembling a fractal, reported to have appeared in daylight hours.
  • The "Milk Hill" galaxy (2001), a vast spiral of 409 circles.
  • Pi (2008), a formation near Barbury Castle said to encode the first ten digits of pi.
  • Many formations based on the Flower of Life, the vesica piscis, the triskelion and other ancient symbols.

Sacred geometry is the study of the shapes and proportions found throughout nature and used in temples, from the spiral of a shell to the hexagon of a honeycomb. Crop circles bring these patterns into the land in a way that is instantly moving.

How lightworkers "read" a crop circle

  1. Look at the whole. Notice how the design makes you feel before analyzing it.
  2. Notice the numbers. How many circles, rings or petals? Numbers carry meaning in numerology and sacred geometry.
  3. Notice the symbols. Spirals for evolution, triangles for manifestation, circles for unity.
  4. Meditate with it. Gaze softly at an image of the formation. Many people say they feel energy, tingling or a sense of opening.
  5. Journal what comes. Treat it like a dream symbol.

Sacred land

Most English crop circles appear near Neolithic sites and along what dowsers call ley lines, channels of earth energy linking sacred places. Visiting these lands, Avebury, Silbury Hill, Stonehenge, is a pilgrimage for many seekers.

A sacred geometry meditation

Choose an image of a crop circle or the Flower of Life. Sit quietly and gaze at its center for a few minutes, breathing slowly. Then close your eyes and see the pattern glowing inside your heart. Ask, "What do you want me to remember?" Listen.
