In numerology, your life path number is the most important number in your chart. It is calculated from your full birth date and is said to describe your natural gifts, challenges and the lessons your soul came to learn. Many crystal lovers enjoy pairing each life path with stones whose traditional qualities support its strengths and soften its challenges. A life path 1, the independent leader, might carry carnelian for courage. A life path 7, the deep seeker, might keep amethyst for intuition. Here is how to find your number in a minute, and our suggested stones for each.

Your birth date is a little poem written in numbers. Your crystal is a companion for the journey.

How to calculate your life path number

1. Reduce the month to a single digit. (November, 11, can be kept as 11 in some methods, or reduced to 2.)
2. Reduce the day. 14 becomes 1 + 4 = 5.
3. Reduce the year. 1987 becomes 1 + 9 + 8 + 7 = 25, then 2 + 5 = 7.
4. Add the three numbers and reduce again. 7 + 5 + 7 = 19, then 1 + 9 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1.
5. Stop at 11, 22 or 33. These master numbers are not reduced. See Master Numbers 11, 22 and 33.
