Some standards ask for perfection with no regard for human limits: always available, never tired, flawless every time. Name the demand clearly so you can see it for what it is.

Add the context. Your energy, health, family responsibilities, and the season of life you are in all shape what is reasonable. A human standard makes room for these realities instead of pretending they do not exist.

Keep your dignity. You can still aim high, care about quality, and grow. A more human standard simply lets you do so without treating yourself like a machine that has failed whenever it needs rest.

Rewrite one rule

You have an unspoken rule that you must always be available for your family, no matter how tired you are. When you need rest, you feel guilty.

Write down one rule you hold for yourself that feels inhumane. Rewrite it in a way that includes your limits: "I will be available for my family most evenings, and I will take one night a week for rest."

Practice the new rule for a few weeks. Notice how it affects your energy and relationships. Human standards are more sustainable and still honor what matters.
