Angel Light Books and Gifts has been a tranquil haven for spiritual growth since 1989. Founded by Valencia Chan and now on Martin Luther King Jr Way in Berkeley, California, it is a metaphysical shop, a place for readings and energy work, and home to the Angel Light School of Metaphysics.
Meet Valencia
Valencia opened Angel Light in Redwood City, where the original shop shared a home with a restaurant called Joy Meadow and the Temple of Light upstairs. In 2004 she published the Joy Meadow Cookbook, filled with recipes, photographs, short stories and spiritual insights, and in 2007 she moved Angel Light to Berkeley.
An avid metaphysician, Valencia has studied astrology, tarot, crystals and feng shui in depth. She earned her astrology certification in 1987 and her feng shui certification in 1996, and as she shares, feng shui has always been part of her Chinese culture. She is also the creator of the Crystal Wisdom Cards, plus Crystal Message Cards and Crystal Blessing Cards published by US Games. “I’m always amazed at how the perfect stone will find its way to the person who would most benefit from its power,” she says.
Inside the shop
Angel Light is a true one stop shop for the spiritual seeker. You will find metaphysical books from astrology to Zen, oracle cards and tarot decks, crystals and gemstones, handcrafted gemstone jewelry, candles, incense, oils and sage. There are feng shui tools, Egyptian and Eastern statues, Native American artwork, and a magical world of angels, fairies, mermaids, wizards, dragons and unicorns.
Valencia has created more than 500 products in house, including Archangel, Ascended Master and Goddess candles, aroma mists and anointing oils. Visitors can relax in the Angel Tea Room with a cup of chamomile tea, or follow the scented path to the Fairy Tea Garden, where jasmine, lavender and geraniums bloom.

Angel Light School of Metaphysics
