The new moon is the dark beginning of the lunar cycle. Many people use it as a monthly pause to plant fresh intentions, like seeds in quiet soil.

Prepare your space

Choose a quiet spot. Light a candle, set out a stone you love and have a journal ready. Even five minutes is enough.

Five gentle steps

  • Arrive. Take three slow breaths and let the day settle.
  • Reflect. Write down what you are grateful for from the last cycle.
  • Release. Name one habit or worry you are ready to set down.
  • Intend. Write up to three intentions in the present tense, such as "I give myself rest without guilt."
  • Seal it. Read them aloud, place your hand on your heart and blow out the candle.

Carry it through the month

Keep your intentions where you will see them. At the full moon, about two weeks later, revisit them and notice what has begun to grow.
