Characters

Mantra the Chant Master

Mantra the Chant Master runs the Chant Pavilion at the Central Nexus Hub.

He treats a chant like lighting a lamp, and he points the city’s voice where it needs to go.

About Mantra

Mantra is a human, an older chant uncle with wild white hair standing up, a full white beard and mustache, a warm lined face, and brown amber eyes that look slightly upward. He wears orange red layered robes with gold trim, a white outer layer on one side, a green sash with gold edge and fringe, a long black prayer bead necklace with a smaller white strand, and woven sandals.

His usual pose is palms pressed together at the chest, with two thin gold chant wisps rising from his hands. Those wisps are sound made visible. They do not burn, and he carries no weapon. He is joyful and upward, with a warm, soft voice and words meant to be repeated.

Theme

A true word aimed is stronger than a loud one spent.Infused Lights

Mantra came from the Aetheria echoes and brought the practice to the Hub so the city would have a voice that is not a rumor. The Veil made people whisper. He stayed loud on purpose.

Try this today: Say one true sentence out loud today. Mean it.

The Chant Pavilion

Mantra runs chant and mantra training, offering words that raise joy, focus, and courage, along with chant word quests. His pavilion nights are full of beads, books, and shared words. On the first Invitation Night, before Arena raises the Banner, Mantra aims the city’s voice at the water bowl of Nexara so the well opens on purpose. He does not fight, and he does not post the board. If the rail goes silent, his job is to give them one true sound.

Doubt is what silences him. Isolation and rumor close the mouth. Courage and a full pavilion open it again.

Mantra and the wider cast

After Mantra aims, Arena the Arena Master calls. Hallor posts the night that Mantra warms. Kael is the courage reset when doubt shuts the chant. Trophus is the after bell metal, while Mantra is the before bell sound. Energa rinses after; he aims the bowl before.
