Awaken with Darren is the home of Darren Marc Levene, a kirtan artist, intuitive reader, Reiki Master Teacher, sound healer, meditation teacher and author on Long Island, New York. His greatest joy is leading kirtan at yoga studios and festivals, and he is deeply passionate about helping people navigate life’s complexities through intuitive guidance and energy healing.
Meet Darren
For more than two decades, Darren has helped thousands of people cultivate greater peace, spiritual connection and personal transformation, drawing on 20 years as a touring mantra musician, Reiki master teacher and intuitive reader. He is the author of books on spirituality and personal growth, including Create Your Dream Life Now: A Workbook and Guide for Manifesting Your Destiny (HCI Books), along with Journey of the Heart, Unveiling the Power of the Heart and The Joy of Bhakti.
Before devoting his career to devotional music and spiritual teaching, Darren was a singer and songwriter whose original music was licensed for television on networks including MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1, E!, CBS and Animal Planet. Most recently he completed a three year residency as the monthly kirtan artist and Reiki sound bath facilitator at Yoga Soup in Santa Barbara, California. He is also an Ambassador for Yoga Gives Back, a global nonprofit supporting women and children in India.
Sacred songs for the soul
Kirtan is call and response devotional singing rooted in Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of love and devotion. Darren sings a line and everyone sings it back, moving between traditional mantras and his own original heart songs, from joyful singing to quiet, meditative moments. No singing experience is needed and all voices are welcome. As Darren puts it, kirtan with him is an invitation to gather with community that feels like family.
